Yes, investment considerations, potential capital growth, supply and demand, safety of an area, etc. are all important factors when one considers buying a property. But there is also something else that is intrinsically important.
When I named my company – Byron-Yeats Properties, a long time ago, I had something in mind. The name comes from Lord Byron, the English poet, and William Yeats, the Irish poet. I had this philosophy when I started off- I don’t want to just sell bricks and mortar to earn an income. I wanted to sell (poetic) dreams. I dreamed, still do, that real people with real interests in life must be my customers/clients.
So, I want my clients to watch a ‘dream’ grows. Watching a place taking shape. Feeling in the know about the zits im leben of a property. People must live there. I wanted, still want them to dream. About a sense of belonging. About energy more meaningful than mere money. A dwelling must quietly whisper about books to read, about music to stir the soul, about discussions with other people much more than mere superficial talk. A dwelling must moan if it is not fit with inspiring art against its walls. A dwelling must experience the growth of soul of its inhabitants.
So, me friend, yes, I will talk to you about property investments, the solidity of such thought, but I also want you to choose a property not for its mere position and visual impact, I want you to visualize the future opening up of meaningful experiences and unfolding of substantial life.
And then, one day, should you need to sell such a property, that these words will be in your soul – “it is not a garment that I cast off today, it is my own skin that I tear with my bare hands”.
